EXECUTIVE BRIEFING SESSIONS

These sessions will highlight the challenges that must be addressed by the Boards and the C-suites in their strategic plan as they, the workforce and customers/clients become more diverse. The issues that will be addressed include

  • Review the impact that the reduction of white males (15% of the workforce by 2060) will have on the talent development efforts to fill the void that will occur.
  • Action steps that must be considered to create an environment of productivity in an increasing multi-cultural and polarized society and workforce.
  • Outline the “unwritten rules” that will affect their personal growth as well as the growth of their organization.

TRAINING FOR ERG LEADERS AND MEMBERS

This training will concentrate on ensuring that the leaders of ERG groups understand how the organizational system works and the “unwritten rules” that define the success of the upward mobility of their careers and those of their ERG members.

The session will highlight the challenges and give them solutions to help their
members to understand how they can play “the organizational game” without
feeling they are selling out their culture in order to do so.

Review their responsibility to become role-models and the best ways to pass this information of the “rules of the game” on to their membership

MENTOR/MENTEE TRAINING

The “unwritten rules” that govern upward mobility is shared with both Mentor and Mentee allowing for a common language and understanding of the goals that should be accomplished.

This training helps to establish a common set of objectives that allows both the mentor and mentee to set effective and realistic goal during their relationship.

The training will highlight the cultural trust gap that may exist between Mentor/ Mentee caused by cultural differences. This awareness allows for problem-solving which leads to the building of trust in the relationship.

AWARENESS AND SENSITIVITY TRAINING

This training covers such topics as:

  • The history of our changing workforce and the impact it will have on future team relationships
  • The effects of stereotyping and how to prevent doing it
  • How to be more effective communicating across any cultural gaps that may exist between people
  • Understanding the dynamics of “outgroup” behaviors that may exist within team member
  • Effective coaching techniques in a multi-cultural environment
  • The effects of “unconscious bias” and its prevention
  • Seeking and sharing common values and learning to accept our difference

WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

  • The reason why our socio-economic system is called a “game”
  • Reveal where the current rule emanated and why they are important

REVIEW OF THE MAJOR ELEMENTS OF “THE GAME”

PEOPLE, CHANGE AND CHOICES

  • People: Review that nothing happens in life that doesn’t involve people
  • Change: Review the changes happening in our environment, societal and Organizational
  • Choices: Remind participants that life is a series of choices that we all must make and consequences we must all embrace

INTRODUCTION TO PERFORMANCE, IMAGE AND EXPOSURE (THE P.I.E. Model)

  • Performance: Written standards of expectations and the contract one has with the organization. Rewarded by pay
  • Image: Most standards “unwritten” and is the bases of measuring potential and upward mobility
  • Exposure: Deals with socio-economic levels of comfort and acts of sponsorship
  • Introduction to the power of non-verbal behavior
  • mpact of dress, social habits, communication style, family values, time, body language, etc.
  • Developing an upwardly oriented image and its impact on your current environment
  • The effects of culture on communication
  • Resolving the issue of cultural conflicts in non-verbal communication

A DISCUSSION OF CULTURE

  • Definition of Culture and how they are formed
  •  Discussion of our personal value systems
  • Revealing the “mental reservations” we all have and how they effect our thoughts and actions
  • Define the difference between Cultures and Fads
  • Problem-solve how to break out of our individual “mental- “reservations”

EXPOSURE

  • Define the the difference between a mentor and a sponsor and the
  •  importance of both
  • Discuss the requirements of finding a mentor and sponsor
  • Introduce the seven socio-economic levels of our society and how they
  • relate to organizational positions
  •  Show how self-development and upward mobility relate to each other
  •  Define “glass ceilings” and show how they can be broken
  • Discuss the need to “leave people behind” if you want upward mobility

CHANGE

  • Review the need for both organizations and individuals to change for success
  • Highlight the emotional levels of change that must be experienced if change is to happen
  •  Have participants make a personal assessment on were they are on some important issues currently confronting our society today
  •  Have participants develop a personal action plan for change

LEADERSHIP

  • POWER: (The ability to influence) How to get it, use it and keep it
  • Developing the skills of Delegation and Strategic Thinking and Planning
  •  Review the elements of being an Effective Team Player

DEALING WITH THE STRESS OF “PLAYING THE GAME”

  •  Discuss how to deal with the conflicts between work, family, social life, etc.
  • Personal assessment rating the current stress they are currently under
  • Review solutions to resolve stress related situation they may have
  • Develop strategic plans for future upward mobility stressful situations

Dealing with the game’s most difficult skill: EMOTIONAL CONTROL

  • Discuss why emotional control is so difficult to manage
  • Review the difference between Emotion and Passion
  •  Discuss the differences between Passive, Aggressive and Assertive in communicating to others
  • Review how to build an Effective Business Case when trying to sell your
    ideas or suggests to your boss, your family or your peers

COACHING AND SHARING WITH OTHERS

  • Reviewing the importance of sharing your knowledge and experiences with other members of your team. (Do unto others)
  • Discuss the impact of being an “OUT-GROUP” member of your team.
    (Out-group member: Someone that is few in number and operating in a different culture) (Our future workforce)
  • Review the steps of an effective coaching session
  • Share the pitfalls to watch for when coaching across cultural lines

BECOMING THE CEO OF YOUR LIFE

  • Getting the right people on your persona team to prepare for upward mobility, I.e. lawyer, accountant, medical, taxes, real estate, child care, banker, home repair, lawn, spiritual, etc.
  • Access and develop a financial plan that keeps your money working while you are working, I.e. savings, stocks, bonds, insurance, mutual funds, etc.

CAREER PLANNING AND SKILLS ASSESSMENT

  • With a skills assessment tool, have participants determine their current Strengths and weaknesses in their skill sets have them determine what future skills must they develop to reach the Positions they want to hold in their future
  •  Have them establish both short and long term action plans to meet their goals
